Ambassador Jacobson Visit Monterey to Meet With Local Leaders

US Ambassador in Mexico, Roberta Jacobson, visited the city to attend the annual meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce in Monterrey (AmCham) which highlighted the bilateral relationship and the importance of Nuevo Leon as an economic engine. In his speech, Ambassador Jacobson said, «I’ve been in Mexico three and a half months, and even for someone who has worked in the bilateral relationship for more than a decade, has been a revelation. During his visit to Monterrey, Ambassador Jacobson had the opportunity to meet with Sister Consuelo Morales of Citizens in Support of Human Rights (CADHAC). The diplomat acknowledged that the organization has outstanding work in support of the mothers of the disappeared in the war against drug trafficking, which affected significantly in the state of Nuevo Leon.

Subsequently, Ambassador Jacobson met with Governor Jaime Rodriguez Calderon and his team where they talked about the Merida Initiative, education, economic category, security issues, investment and economic development and other areas of cooperation. Ambassador congratulated the state governor for being the first independent governor in contemporary Mexico and stressed the common bonds of democracy between the two countries.

In his last stop in the city, diplomatic he toured the Institute of Cultural Relations, member of the consulate with which various bilateral activities are carried out.
